Forensics is the art of assessing evidence to find truth.  Everybody wants that one piece of crucial evidence to close the case but most of the investigation is usually spent disqualifying leads.  The science of dating the earth holds to this same basic principle. Here the forensic of determining an Old Earth (4.5 billion years) vs. New Earth (6,000 years) needs to be as honest and unbiased as a police investigation.  So when evidence doesn’t fit an Investigator’s theory he doesn’t have the right to ignore it or throw it out.  Bellow are two pieces of critical evidence that point to the truth.

Determining the age of rocks and minerals is critical in determining the age of the earth. Radiocarbon dating is one of the most popular methods evolutionists have used to support the Old Earth Theory. In 1986 Mount Saint Helen, in Washington State, erupted.  Six years later Dr. Steven Austin submitted the sample for radiometric dating to an independent laboratory in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The results came back dating the rock at 350,000 years old, with certain compounds within it as old as 2.8 million years. Dr. Austin’s conclusion is that radiometric dating is uselessly and unreliable (1). Currently Radiocarbon dating is still used.

Our magnetic field has been decaying at a rate of 5% each century.  Measuring the earth’s magnetic field was started in 1829 (2).  In addition to this Archaeomagnetic dating has confirmed the rate of decay.  This is the science which finds a magnetic signature in dated artifacts.  This testing has determined that our magnetic field has lost 40% of it’s power since 1000 CE.  What does all this mean?  That this decaying pattern establishes that the earth cannot be older then 10,000 years (3).  Anything older would have created a magnetic field so intense it would have melted the earth.

There are those that try to homogenize secular science and G-d’s word by making them both right.  For example, there are theories out there that the 6 days of creation were not 24 hour days but days that were millions of years long. Dr. John Morris, president of Institution of Creation Research says it best when he said “The old-earth and the young-earth views are extremely different in their conclusions. They simply are not saying the same thing. Attempts to straddle the fence and accept them both will be unsatisfying — scientifically and scripturally.” (4).  Every year science gets closer to scripture.
